Hi, I’m Belinda! I'm a professional Artist and Digital Artist with over 20 years of experience working in Illustration and Visual Effects for film and animation. Many of those years have been spent working as a Digital Matte Painter, Environment and Texture Artist on Academy Award winning films including Avatar, King Kong and Happy Feet. In recent years I have worked on various projects for Disney, Marvel, Netflix, Warner Bros, Channel 9 and ABC Kids. I have also illustrated several children’s mobile apps on the Apple App Store and published my own colouring books.
While I’ve used a long list of software throughout my career, I’ve chosen Procreate on the iPad to teach my classes. It’s a professional art package that suits everyone from kids and beginners to professional artists. Using Procreate together with the Apple Pencil on an iPad offers a very intuitive art making experience, and is why I use it in all of my classes and workshops.
My goal in teaching my art and digital art skills to other artists is simply to inspire them. I’m all about encouraging experimentation, nurturing an individual sense of artistic identity and giving people the confidence to develop their own digital art style. I find teaching my skills and sharing my knowledge with others incredibly rewarding.
My Qualifications
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design, majoring in Illustration and Animation, a Master of Teaching (Secondary), a Certificate III in 3d Animation and participated in various Adobe certified training programs over the years. Alongside my professional career, I began teaching 12 years ago, writing and teaching Bachelor degree subjects in Digital Art and 3d animation. I founded Digital Brushes Art School 3 years ago and since then I have throughly enjoyed teaching my craft to all ages from primary school kids to 70 year olds. I am currently a high school teacher, teaching Mulitmedia and Design and Technology.
